Challenge: To process trocar points automatically where small lot sizes require frequent equipment changeover.

Solution

Using the CAM.2 machine with full axis control on rotation and infeed of a part, a trocar point can be ground on the machine continuously. Using an inline cutter, the machine can grind the trocar points and cut the part to final length from 16 foot stock lengths in a fully automatic process, while maintaining micron tolerances.
