Coming Full Circle: Sean Riess' Journey from Grind Shop Apprentice to Glebar Manager

Sean Riess, our newly appointed Machine & Technical Sales Manager is not entirely new at Glebar. As a matter of fact, he began his career in the precision grinding industry right here at Glebar as a part-time apprentice 20 years ago. Like many other machine shop students, he honed his craft in the grind shop by closely watching and emulating the elder machinists and R&D specialists who were part of Glebar's 65 plus-year legacy of precision grinding innovation. While perfecting his shop skills, he was also attending Ramapo college pursuing his Bachelor of Arts degree. After graduating, he was hired full time as Glebar’s Field Service Technician installing machines all over the world and then moved into sales for 12 years. In 2013, he transitioned into R&D to develop new grinding processes in many new emerging markets and brought in new wheel technology.

Late in 2017 Sean briefly left Glebar after 22 years to become a territory sales manager for a major grinding wheel manufacturer. Although a new opportunity seemed appealing he quickly realized and felt that his real calling was working at Glebar, promoting their line of centerless grinding systems and other products of which he was so familiar – and a key player in developing. In early 2018 he returned to Glebar as the "new" Machine and Technical Sales Manager, once again resuming his journey helping make Glebar "Innovation Manufactured™"
