Glebar Advantage

Product Summary

The TF-9BHD is also used effectively in the production of catheters due to the 9" wide wheel advantage, superior surface finish can been achieved in one pass on mixed durometer plastic tubing.

Purely physics, the larger the surface area on a grinding wheel, the better the surface finish. A 9" diameter by 8-5/8" long wheel results in a much larger grinding surface than any other equipment used for this application.

The system shown above is equipped with an automatic catheter feeder, a vacuum unloaded, a pressure washing system to clean the wheels automatically and template tracing wheel dressers.

Recently introduced is the TF-9DHD offering all the advantages of the model described above with the addition of motion control on the regulating wheel slide operating in a closed loop with the installed glass linear scale and NEMA4 rated touch screen. The capabilities are enhanced by incorporating automated infeed capability and interfacing to feeding systems and gages.

This coupled with Glebar's experience in plastic, and composite grinding makes this system ideal for catheter manufacturing applications.

Being a versatile piece of equipment, The TF-9BHD can also be configured to produce simple one step guide wires. Although multi tapered wires can be produced on this machine, the TF-9DHD is more adept at performing that task.

Key Features

  • 8-5/8" wide 9" diameter grinding wheel.
  • Grinding range from 0.002" to 4" diameter on the same machine.
  • Carbide tipped work rest blade.
  • Diamond wheels.
  • Variable speed hydraulic drive.
  • Side feeding systems.
  • Automated Wheel Pressure washing.
  • Wide selection of wheel dressing options. Template tracing, straight line, etc.
  • Multi grit "sandwiched" wheel segments over 8-5/8" span.
  • Selection of filtration equipment. From filtered coolant tanks to full fledged filtration systems capable of servicing a production line.

Catheter Grinding Advantages
  • Wide wheel spreads the grind over 8 inches promoting longer wheel life between dresses.
  • Multi grade wheels can both rough and finish the same part in one operation. Very suitable for catheters of multiple hardness construction.
  • Superior surface finish due to the width of the wheels.
  • Automatic pressure washing insures clean wheels further enhancing surface finish.
  • Precision tailstock bearing assembly and work spindle for more rigidity and size control.
  • Simple machine setup and size adjustment.
  • Low maintenance hydraulic regulating wheel drive, pressure and temperature compensated.
  • Simple wheel removal and replacement.
  • Available template tracing wheel dressers. Regulating wheel dresser can be stationary or removable.
  • Available vacuum feeders and unloaders.
  • Side feeding and autocycling available for infeed runs.
  • Automatic unloader removes the ground catheter, dries it and loads it into a shipping tube out of the machine.
